Shepherd’s Mill Community Solar Project
Carroll County, MD | 2.9 MW | Potomac Edison

The Shepherd’s Mill Community Solar Project is located on 16 acres leased from a local landowner in Carroll County. The solar development produces 4,000 MWh annually from a fixed tilt ground mounted system and creates a steady source of income for the landowner. The power is sold to residential and small business customers throughout Potomac Edison’s service territory as a part of Maryland’s Community Solar Pilot Program. At least 30% of subscribers are from low-to-moderate income households and, on average, they save 20% to 30% on their electric bills. This low maintenance project is expected to operate for twenty-five years.
